2D Animation for Transportation Invention

We are a small transportation technology venture in California. We need a short 2D animation that explains how our transit system works to audiences who are not engineers, primarily real estate developers and transit agency staff.

The system uses a continuously moving cable to propel lightweight passenger cars along an elevated guideway. What makes it unusual is that cars can release from the cable and pull onto an off-line siding at a station while other cars stay on the cable and pass through without slowing down. The cable never stops. That single idea is what the animation has to communicate, and it is the thing people consistently fail to picture from a written description.

This is a schematic explainer, not a cinematic piece. It should look like a clear technical diagram in motion: side elevation or plan view, clean line work, readable labels, a visible clock or time indicator. We are not looking for character animation, photorealistic 3D, or AI-generated video. Accuracy matters more than polish. Every distance, speed and timing relationship in the animation must match the data we provide.

Scope:

A 60 to 90 second animation, delivered as MP4 at 1080p and higher, plus the editable project file.

Silent or with simple on-screen text. No voiceover needed in this version, but the pacing should leave room to add one later.

Two rounds of revisions included, with additional rounds quoted separately.

What we provide:

A time-distance diagram showing car movements between stations, with timings.

Written descriptions of station operations, boarding times and headways.

The granted US patent, which is public record and includes schematic figures of the guideway and vehicles. We will send the number to shortlisted candidates.

Responsive answers to technical questions. One of us is the inventor and is available to review drafts.

How we would like to work:

We want to start with a small paid first milestone: a rough animatic, roughly 10 to 15 seconds, showing a single car releasing from the cable and pulling into a station siding while a second car passes through on the main line. No polish required. If the mechanism reads clearly, we move to the full piece as a second milestone.

Please note that some of our underlying figures, including design speed, are still being finalized. We will lock them before the full animation begins, but we mention it now so that timing values are built in a way that can be adjusted rather than hard-coded into every frame.

Who we are looking for:

Someone who has animated a mechanical or industrial process before. Transit, logistics, manufacturing, robotics, engineering explainer work. Portfolio pieces showing how something physically operates are far more relevant to us than brand or marketing reels.

In your proposal, please include:

A link to one piece where you explained how a physical mechanism works. Tell us what the hardest part of that job was.

In two or three sentences, how you would approach showing a vehicle detaching from a moving cable and slowing to a stop while the cable continues at speed behind it.

What software you would use and what you would deliver as the editable file.

Your quote for the test animatic and a separate estimate for the full piece.
