Food and Beverage Manager

Run the busiest dining operation in Florence. Fix what needs fixing. Build your own team.

Florence Country Club is hiring a Food & Beverage Manager. Full-time, salaried, with benefits.

About the Club
Florence Country Club is a private, member-owned club founded in 1924. Our Food & Beverage operation covers casual dining, formal dining, banquets, weddings and private events for our members and their guests. Florence sits where I-95 meets I-20, about 75 minutes from Myrtle Beach and Columbia, with a lower cost of living than either.

The job
On a Saturday you might have a wedding in the ballroom, a member dinner in the dining room and a full grill, all at once, and the plan will change before 5 p.m. You run the floor. You call the adjustments. When it's over, you go find out why the member tickets didn't match the bill and make sure it doesn't happen again.

You report to the General Manager and lead the service, banquet and support staff.

We're looking for a specific kind of manager

  • You'd rather have three things going at once than one.
  • You say what you mean, and your staff always knows where they stand.
  • You notice the details other people walk past.
  • You push your team hard, and you push yourself harder.
  • Long days don't bother you. Slow days do.

What you'll do

  • Run front-of-house for dining, banquets and private events
  • Inspect every room before service and walk the F&B areas daily
  • Make same-day calls on staffing, room setups and event timelines
  • Assign opening, closing and side work, and check that it's done
  • Audit member tickets so billing is right
  • Write and enforce the service standards
  • Work with the chef so the kitchen and floor run on one plan
  • Hold daily pre-shift lineups and train staff on service, wine and beverage, and safety
  • Hire, coach and hold your team accountable
  • Serve as Manager on Duty as assigned

What you get here

  • Real authority. You hire, train and lead the service team, and you set the standards.
  • Room to change things. We want our next F&B manager to raise the bar, and the GM will back you.
  • A salaried, benefited position with paid time off at a club that has been open since 1924. No ownership turnover, and no chain manual telling you how to run your floor.
  • Members who notice when service is right, and a chef and GM who work with you every day.

You'll need

  • 2+ years leading a service team in a private club, upscale restaurant, hotel, banquet or catering operation
  • Working knowledge of wine and beverage service and running large events
  • ServSafe and TIPS/BASSET certification, or both obtained within 30 days of hire
  • A schedule that includes mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and long event days
  • Ability to stand and walk for long shifts, lift up to 30 pounds, and work outdoors in heat on occasion
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Jonas or other club software experience is a plus. A hospitality or business degree is preferred, not required.
