About UPS & Our Culture

The night shift unload is the most physically demanding and most financially rewarding entry-level position in the UPS warehouse network. Our Full-Time Night Shift Unloaders are the associates who set the entire sort operation in motion every evening — pulling packages from trailers at sustained speed so that the entire downstream sort, load, and dispatch chain can execute without interruption. If you are seeking full-time night shift warehouse jobs that pay a premium for working hours others avoid, reward physical effort with contractually guaranteed union wages, and open the door to one of the most financially powerful blue-collar careers in America, this is the opportunity you have been looking for.

What Our Team Says (Employee Reviews)

"I specifically wanted a full-time night shift because I do not want to deal with traffic and I am naturally a night person. The UPS overnight differential on top of the full-time union wage makes my take-home pay genuinely outstanding for the skill level required to start. I have been here four years, I make more than most of my college-educated friends, and I am currently in the line for a full-time driver position. Full-time night shift warehouse jobs do not get better than this." - Current Full-Time Night Shift Unloader, Memphis, TN.

Role Overview & Responsibilities

As a UPS Full-Time Night Shift Warehouse Unloader, you work an 8-hour overnight shift inside our package center, leading the high-velocity inbound unload operation that processes all trailers arriving during the night sort window and sets up the entire sort floor for the day ahead.

  • High-Speed Trailer Unloading: Pull packages from fully loaded 53-foot inbound trailers at a sustained rate across a full 8-hour shift, placing every parcel label-side up on the inbound conveyor belt to maintain sort floor throughput targets through the peak overnight window.
  • Inbound Freight Verification: Identify and flag trailer shortages, damaged freight, and hazmat packages at the point of unload before any problem item enters the main sort flow, protecting downstream sort accuracy and compliance.
  • Dock Safety Leadership: Model UPS safety protocols — trailer chocking, dock plate seating, and heavy-lift team technique — for newer associates in the unload area, setting the standard that keeps the night shift injury-free shift after shift.

Benefits & Perks

UPS Full-Time Night Shift Unloaders earn a significant overnight shift differential stacked on top of the full-time Teamsters union base wage — one of the highest total hourly rates available in the package logistics industry without a CDL. Full medical, dental, and vision benefits, a defined-benefit pension, paid vacation, sick time, paid holidays, and UPS Earn & Learn tuition assistance are all included. Weekly paychecks are direct-deposited every Friday.
