<p><strong>iOS Developer / Contract. 1-2 years with possibility of conversion to FTE / Pittsburg, PA is the preferred location, but will consider candidates from EST zone / W2 only, no 3rd party inquiries please. </strong></p><p><u>Summary:</u></p><p>This Strategic Lead is the technical anchor for the iOS team. You are a systems thinker responsible for defining the long-term technical roadmap, ensuring that the app remains performant as features scale, and mentoring the team to reach higher standards of engineering excellence.</p><p><u>Responsibilities: </u></p><ul><li><strong>Position is 80% coding, 20% architectural design and implementation. </strong></li><li><strong>Architectural Stewardship:</strong> Design and evolve scalable app architectures. You decide when to leverage SwiftUI for rapid UI development and when to fall back on UIKit for complex legacy integrations.</li><li><strong>Concurrency & Performance:</strong> Lead the implementation of modern Swift concurrency models. You are responsible for identifying memory leaks and optimizing main-thread performance.</li><li><strong>Cross-Functional Strategy:</strong> Partner with Product Managers and Designers to evaluate the technical feasibility of new concepts and propose solutions that save time without sacrificing user experience.</li><li><strong>Mentorship & Documentation:</strong> Serve as the "final word" on technical disputes, conduct rigorous code reviews that teach better patterns, and author clear Technical Design Documentation (TDD).</li><li><strong>AI Workflows & Architecture:</strong> Define strategies for incorporating AI workflows, setting up Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, and designing scalable architectures for agent integration across the mobile development lifecycle.</li><li><strong>Testing:</strong> Our team operates without a dedicated manual Quality Assurance (QA) team. This means that every developer, regardless of role, is responsible for the end-to-end quality of their code, including comprehensive automated and manual testing, to ensure features are production-ready and shippable upon commit.</li></ul><p><u>Required Skills:</u></p><ul><li>8+ years of professional iOS development experience (with 3+ in an architectural/leadership capacity).</li><li>Proven ability to resolve ambiguity and influence without authority.</li><li>Demonstrated experience setting up AI workflows, developer skills, and MCP server integrations.</li><li><strong>Swift Mastery:</strong> Expert understanding of generics, protocols, strict concurrency, and modern Swift evolution.</li><li><strong>Hybrid UI:</strong> Seamless ability to bridge SwiftUI and UIKit.</li><li><strong>System Design:</strong> Expert at designing local-first data strategies using SwiftData or Core Data, including complex sync logic and migrations.</li><li><strong>AI Infrastructure:</strong> Proven experience configuring AI workflows, custom agent skills, and MCP server integrations.</li></ul><p><br></p>
