Remote Insurance Billing Specialist

A claim is denied due to a single mismatched code. Nobody notices for three weeks. Then someone does — catches it, fixes it, resubmits — and a provider gets paid for work they already did months ago. That someone is what we're hiring for. We need a Remote Insurance Billing Specialist. Full-time, fully remote, $50,673 a year. Open to applicants across the USA, Canada, the UK, the EU, Australia, India, and other eligible regions. You'll own claims from submission through resolution — catching errors before they cost anyone money, and chasing down the ones that slip past. What You'd Actually Be Doing Prepare, review, and submit insurance claims — electronic and paper, whichever the payer requires Keep submissions compliant with billing regulations and payer-specific rules Track unpaid or rejected claims and follow up until they're resolved Work directly with providers and payers to sort out billing discrepancies Keep clean records of every transaction, denial, and appeal Read through Explanation of Benefits statements to catch underpayments or denials Handle pre-authorization requests and claim status calls with insurance companies Post payments accurately, both insurance and patient Support finance during monthly closeout and reporting Help refine billing policies as processes evolve What You'll Need Education: Associate degree required Experience: At least 2 years in medical billing, health insurance claims, or revenue cycle work Working fluency in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding A real understanding of payer reimbursement rules, Medicare included Comfort with claim adjustments and denial resolution — this isn't your first time chasing a rejected claim Sharp attention to detail; billing errors compound fast if nobody catches them early The discipline to manage your own workload without someone checking in hourly Solid written and verbal communication for payer and provider calls Familiarity navigating EHR and billing software Good to Have Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) credential Experience with cloud-based practice management platforms Working knowledge of HIPAA compliance in a remote setting Some background in patient account reconciliation or financial reporting The Tools You'll Be Working In Cloud-based billing platforms such as Kareo or AdvancedMD Practice management systems integrated with EHRs Secure VoIP for provider and insurer follow-ups Real-time reporting tools to track claims and account status A dual-monitor setup and secure VPN access come standard, since this work runs entirely through healthcare systems that need to stay locked down. What the Work Environment Looks Like Fully remote, with flexible scheduling built around your actual hours rather than a fixed shift. Regular virtual check-ins keep everyone aligned without turning into another meeting nobody needed. Documentation stays paperless throughout — partly for compliance, partly because nobody wants to chase down a physical file three years from now. What Good Performance Looks Like Here Claim cycle time shrinks. Collection rates climb. You'll know you're doing this well when your error rate on submissions and postings stays consistently low, when denials get resolved without a second round of back-and-forth, and when you start noticing process gaps before anyone flags them for you. Organizations hiring for revenue cycle roles through Naukri Mitra often mention that this kind of quiet initiative — fixing a workflow issue before it becomes a pattern — is what separates a good billing specialist from a great one. Where This Can Lead This role opens the door to real healthcare finance career paths — exposure to evolving insurance regulations, value-based reimbursement models, and billing technology that keeps changing faster than most people expect. From here, specialists often move into Billing Supervisor or Revenue Cycle Analyst roles, pursue focused training in compliance or auditing, or join cross-functional projects aimed at streamlining billing workflows across a whole organization. Pay and Benefits $50,673 annual salary Remote work stipend to help set up your home office properly Paid time off, including sick days and holidays Continuing education and certification reimbursement Access to mental wellness and financial planning resources Why This Job Actually Matters Behind every claim is a patient who needs the billing side handled cleanly so they're not stuck fighting a confusing bill months later, and a provider who needs to get paid for care they already delivered. You're the connective tissue between insurers, providers, and patients — the person making sure accuracy and communication don't fall apart somewhere in the middle. It's not glamorous work, but it's the kind that keeps the whole system honest. How to Apply If billing accuracy is something you take genuine pride in rather than treat as a chore, we'd like to hear from you. Send your resume along with a short note on your medical billing or revenue cycle background. Open to applicants from the USA, Canada, the UK, the EU, Australia, India, and other eligible regions worldwide.
