About Walmart Private Fleet

Walmart’s supply chain is an intricate, 24/7 operation. To ensure that our retail stores are flawlessly restocked and ready for customers by sunrise, a massive portion of our logistical movement occurs under the cover of darkness. We deeply respect the dedication of our nocturnal driving professionals, offering them industry-leading compensation, modern equipment, and a culture that values their unique contribution to the network.

A Timeline of Your Nocturnal Operations

  1. 8:00 PM - Dispatch & Inspection: Arrive at the Distribution Center. You will log into your electronic logging device (ELD) and conduct a highly meticulous DOT safety inspection of your modern commercial tractor, preparing for the night ahead.
  2. 9:30 PM - Highway Transit: Hit the open interstate. You will enjoy the profound solitude of night driving, entirely bypassing daytime commuter gridlock as you transport a fully loaded 53-foot dry van toward regional retail locations.
  3. 1:00 AM - Uninterrupted Drop and Hook: Arrive at the destination store. You will efficiently back into the quiet receiving area, drop your loaded trailer, and hook up to an empty outbound trailer, maximizing your drive time without ever waiting for a live unload.
  4. 5:00 AM - Return & Rest: Return safely to your home distribution center before the morning rush hour begins. Complete your post-trip paperwork and head home to enjoy a peaceful, well-deserved rest.

Qualifications and Total Rewards

Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid Class A CDL, and maintain an immaculate driving record. A minimum of 30 months of verifiable commercial driving experience is required. You must be comfortable and highly capable of managing fatigue during overnight operations. Walmart rewards night-shift drivers with a premium mileage rate bolstered by night differentials, exceptional medical benefits, and up to 100% college tuition coverage.
